My name is Rachel, a multi disciplined artist, illustrator, surface pattern, textiles and print designer.

I have 7 years experience in the design industry as a Senior Designer, specialising in giftware, surface pattern and packaging design.

My style is bold, vibrant, and heavily inspired by psychedelic, retro, and folk art aesthetics. I combine digital illustration with traditional printmaking techniques, bringing a tactile and handcrafted quality to my work.

I have a strong understanding of print processes from screen printing to lithography, I create designs that translate seamlessly across different mediums.

My work is playful, nostalgic, and highly decorative, rich in colour, pattern, and symbolism, blending handcrafted textures with a modern, graphic edge.

I have a BSc in CGI modelling and animation and I love working on graphic typography, bold surface pattern and combining new and old image making processes. I’m inspired by traditional sign writing, film and printmaking.

I live and work by the sea in Poole, Dorset, UK. When I’m not working you’ll find me bouldering, at the cinema or hiking on the coast path. I’ve often got a craft project on the go as well.

Beyond my freelance work, I also co-run a small business, Different Day Studio. Different Day Studio is a design studio currently specialising in beautiful unique wedding and events stationery. Our top sellers are our puzzle purse invitations. If you would like to find out more please head to the Different Day Studio Website.

Frequently asked question

  • Yes! I’m available to work on commissions.
I'd love to hear about your ideas for a project, whether you're a business, brand, agency or individual. I take on a wide spectrum of commissioned projects and am always interested in hearing about new opportunities. Please send me a message via the contact form or to rachelnorden.design@gmail.com

  • I don’t have a set way of creating my designs, primarily I would say digitally. I often hand draw first as this feels more organic, it helps me work out layout and composition. I’m also happy to work with collage, or traditional print making techniques like lino block printing.

  • I’m in the process of getting a shop up and running to sell prints, cards and textiles goods.
Currently, a lot of the work in my portfolio is designs I created whilst working at Lush as a Gift Designer, for obvious licensing reasons I will not be selling Lush design prints, but you may be able to find something similar in my shop in the future!
